Active Minds Promotes Student Health

Life with a mental illness is one of great hardship and often loneliness. Silence about one's issues is the norm. This is because mental illness has never been "socially-accepted" in the way that physical diseases have as a fact of life. It is this reason, this sense that it must be a weakness in the person himself, that creates a sense of shame and depression for those afflicted with it.

Jonathan Bennett and Jonathan Kestenbaum, Yeshiva University alumni, have broadened the horizons of the Orthodox Jewish world with their new creation, "the Jewberry." Jon & Jon's software program transforms the BlackBerry from "a device to check email and stocks into a pray phone," per Haaretz.

Student Research Surges To The Fore

SURGE (Student Undergraduate Research Group Exchange) has gotten off to a great start this year. Designed as a forum for students who have done research to share their work with faculty and other members of the Yeshiva University undergraduate community, SURGE has witnessed presentations of state-of-the-art research developed at facilities throughout the United States and even extending to the international community.
