Dear Editor, I just got home to Chicago for break, and I brought home the Observer for my kitchen table. I'm really proud to share it with my family, because I think it contains insightful information presented in an intelligent and professional way. The paper respects extremely positively not only on the Observer staff but on all of Stern.
Bravo to the Observer for an exceptional job presenting a comprehensive and unbiased insight into Transsexuality in the Orthodox Community. While I cannot condone actions which violate Halacha, I most certainly can be respectful of and sympathetic towards a fellow Jew and human being.
To the Editor, In a recent article, YU President Richard Joel quoted my father, Rav Pinchas Teitz z"l who coined the phrase "Learn Torah, Love Torah, Live Torah". President Joel's interpretation of the phrase was apt and interesting, however he cited it as the title of a book written by my father.
I really enjoyed reading the article about recycling and judaism. I spend like 5-10 minutes every day finding bottles and recycling them. It's so important to take an initiative in taking care of our planet and I am so happy that someone else cares and espouses similar concepts.
To the Editor, I was very disappointed to read the negative review of "Vicky Christina Barcelona" in the October 2008 edition of The Observer. Instead of understanding the film as a meditation on love and relationships, the reviewer took it at face value.
