"Obama Day" at Beren Campus Sparks Discussion

On Wednesday September 24, 2008, pictures of Barack Obama studded the Stern College for Women (SCW) campus. The candidate's chiseled silhouette graced fronts of students' t-shirts and posters declaring "Progress." In a campaign termed "Obama Day," about 15 SCW students supportive of Obama proudly flaunted their political position, modeling Obama buttons and distributing pamphlets throughout the day.

Budget Deficit Leads to University-Wide Belt-Tightening

Over the next few years, Stern College for Women (SCW) will be experiencing a period of budget realignment in order to compensate for a university-wide deficit of $24 million. The deficit is a result of aggressive spending that has taken place over the past few years.

CJF Plans for Rabbinic Seminars Underway

In the coming months, the Yeshiva University Center for the Jewish Future (CJF) will be running two seminars, aimed at training pairs of rabbis and lay leaders within their communities. The seminars, entitled the Executive Rabbinic Seminar, are scheduled for the winter months.

Stern Future Fund Promotes Alumni Involvement

A new scholarship initiative was recently created with the help of Stern College for Women (SCW) alumnae and board members. The initiative, named the Stern Future Fund, is designed to assist students in making SCW more affordable. A similar funding initiative, YC100 Fund, exists on the Yeshiva College campus.

YU Public Health Institute Crosses Global Borders

Two of Yeshiva University's (YU) professional schools, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) and the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology (FGSP), have merged their disciplines in the co-sponsorship of the recently-established Institute of Public Health Sciences (IPHS).
